“I have a theory: I awarded something four years ago and I haven’t been asked back yet,” Rogen said on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! about the award show.

Jokes about corona rules
At the ceremony in the Event Deck in Los Angeles, a large covered roof terrace, corona rules still applied, but according to Rogen they were not that strict at all. He made a joke about that at the Emmy ceremony.
“What are they doing? They said it was outside, it wasn’t. They lied to us,” he joked at the time. “We’re in a hermetically sealed tent, I wouldn’t have gone here. Why are you on a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than making sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight.”
‘Kill Eugene Levy’
Rogen said he had full intentions of making “the stupid joke they wrote down,” but changed his mind when he got to the location. “I thought: ‘We are in a tent. I cannot ignore this. Eugene Levy is here, are we going to kill Eugene Levy this way? I don’t want that,'” he joked in conversation with Kimmel about the then 74-year-old actor. According to Rogen, the producers of the awards were “clearly pissed off” with him afterwards.
“I am blacklisted,” Rogen concluded. “But I deviated a lot from the script and put them in a bad light. So I understand.”
