In addition to the three statements about the province of Drenthe, 27 other statements have been completed that relate to more national political themes, such as three statements about immigration and asylum. For example, two-thirds of Drenthe believe that the Netherlands should admit fewer asylum seekers, although opinions are divided when you look at education level.
Among theoretically trained people there are about as many people in favor of this statement as against it. The large majority of intermediate and practically educated people are against the arrival of more asylum seekers in the country.
On the rack ‘The national government may oblige municipalities to receive more asylum seekers, so that reception is distributed fairly across the Netherlands‘, put into practice through the Distribution Act, shows that the older people get, the more they believe that the government can impose this on municipalities.
The same trend can be seen in the statement ‘The tax on large assets must increase.’ Half of 18 to 34-year-olds agree with this, while this has risen to three-quarters among those over 65.
