Almost 25 years ago, the Veilinghuis, led by Peter and Eva Trommelen, moved from the Pijpenlaatje on the Elandsgracht to the business park on Weesperstraat in Diemen.

Here an auction house of no less than 4000 square meters was built. When Peter died in 2013, the company came into the hands of daughter Elise. This made the moose & the sun a real family business.

Director Elise Trommelen explains: “We need less surface area, so we can also auction more often. People want to get it faster and more digitally, so we have decided to look for slightly less square meters.” And that place was found in ‘s-Graveland. “I think we will make something very beautiful out of it,” said the director.

Salvador Dali and Peter van Straaten

Between moving, furnishing and doing odd jobs, quite a few works of well -known names pass by. A series of sixteen etchings from none other than Salvador Dali, paintings by Karel Appel and Jan Cremer and hundreds of drawings by the cartoonist Peter van Straaten, to name just a few. The move guarantees a curious, cultural discovery.
