Seven Dutch people stood in London yesterday with a protest board with the following sentences: “I am against genocide” and “I support Palestine Action.” The latter has been forbidden in England since the end of July this year. The British government placed the action group on the terror list and people who support the group or adhere to be picked up and prosecuted.

The Hilversum Trees was also arrested yesterday, together with nearly 500 others, during the protest. “I was put in a van. I was in it all night,” she says from a house of fellow activists in London. This morning she was transported at 7 a.m. to a small police station in South London, where she was put in a cell.

“Another lawsuit”

She was released this afternoon. “On November 21 I have to come back for my lawsuit. Actually, she suggested another day, but then I already have a lawsuit in the Netherlands,” she says laconically. Until that time, Trees is not allowed to participate in other protests for Palestine Action.

Be stuck for a sign

She is suspected of supporting a terrorist movement. According to Trees, that is the lightest punishment that could be imposed on her. “I think it is ridiculous that you fall under the Terrorism Act if you hold a sign.”
