1/2 According to the jury and the public, blood, sweat and tears were the very best (photo: eye4images).
Blood sweat and tears are with their car ‘From cruel winter to fertile spring’ the big winner of the Brabants Day in Heeze. The group won with their car, in which they unmask the ancient roots of the carnival, in the general classification. In addition, she also won the HWV Audience Award and a prize in the ‘Theatral game’ category. Circle of Friends Hopeless finished in second place and the Lambo Friends finished in three place.
According to the organization, blood, sweat and tears scored high in all parts. “Grime, fabric use, subtle details such as flowers, cinematic music and many surprises. This car literally and figuratively brought goose bumps.” The group showed an ancient pagan fertility ritual and depicted the transition from the harsh winter to spring with her car. “With this they told the history of carnival in a few minutes,” the jury said.
This year there were also three categories in which the participating groups could win a prize. The prize for theatrical game also dragged blood sweat and tears. “The emotions were really tangible and the choreography worked out in detail. Theatrally it literally and figuratively caused goose bumps,” the jury said.

Circle of Friends Hopeless finished in second place. Their car, in which they portrayed carnival during the Second World War, was also a favorite with the public. This year they won the Omroep Brabant Viewers Prize. Friends of Friends also hopelessly won a prize for their design.

The Lambo Friends finished in third place in the general classification. With their wagon ‘Jerkenzeikers painted by the wool’, they told the story of the Tilburgers who gathered their urine in jugs for the textile industry.
Carnival, but not a carnival parade
The theme of the 66th edition of the Brabant Day was ‘Carnival unmasked’. With that, the organization sought the edge for the first time, because comparing the Brabant Day with carnival is for the builders out of the question. But despite the theme, the parade was anything but carnivalesk. The builders told the history of Carnival with their cars.
