The time that everything Linda de Mol touched turned into gold is really behind us. Her new RTL 4-show Briljante brains started very economically yesterday. “This is not fun for her at all.”

Linda de Mol has sustained substantial image damage during the riot around The Voice of Holland. Not only because of her choice to fall into the arms of Jeroen Rietbergen again, but also because she did not act adequately when Victims of Ali B reported to her magazine. She does not want to answer any questions about that to this day.

Linda disappoints

One thing is certain: Linda is, certainly because of her ordinary, to critics such as Angela de Jong and Beau van Erven Dorens, no more TV queen. This includes a certain attitude, a certain prestige, and not a hurt Dutch celebration who shoots in the victim role at the slightest or the least and starts to get it ordinary.

What about the numerical? Well, Linda also disappoints in that area. Her newest show Briljante brains started modestly on RTL 4 last night. The program of which the format was found to be too intelligent to broadcast it on SBS 6 where Linda is under contract, says serious disappoint, according to figures on the analysis canal from Tina Nijkamp.

No television hit

Brilliant brains is not a television hit. “With 671 thousand viewers, brilliant brains started on RTL 4 and 20.3 percent market share in the commercial target group 25 to 54 years. That is therefore lower than the inflow of the land, at sea and in the air (800 thousand and 24.1 percent), and that is not at all fun for Linda and the makers of course.”

Tina continues: “It is also a bit disappointing for such a grand-announced show. A ‘mwoah’ principle. Not mega, not bad. Place eight in the top 25. Linda van I also lost, in both totals and in the target group.”

I leave wins

I am leaving the winner at half past nine with 913 thousand viewers and 27.2 percent share. “Window: the minute analysis of brilliant brains looks stable. How many delayed viewers are added? And how many people watched Videoland? It will be a very exciting week and next week for Linda, John and RTL 4.”

SBS 6 attracted 396 thousand viewers (13.3 percent) at the same time with the Allesweter VIPS from Rob Kamphues. “That score is not too bad for me. Because 13.3 percent vs 20.3 percent for brilliant brains I don’t even find such a big difference.”

Rob in the way

Rob might get a bit in the way of Linda, thinks Tina. “Perhaps the genre (knowledge quiz) overlaps too much with brilliant brains and Linda just really suffers from Rob’s quiz. It also starts just 5 minutes earlier.”

“Tip for John de Mol: Let the Allesweter VIPS start from next week at 9.35 pm instead of 9.25 pm, perhaps good for the score of brilliant brains.”

What does Victor think?

What does TV critic Victor Vlam think of brilliant brains? He has no strong opinion, but notes X On: “In brilliant brains, the gifted participants are filmed remarkably from above. As a result, you as a viewer literally look down on them. That will not be a coincidence.”

“It is a way to make the smart heads more accessible and less intimidating to us as a normal viewer,” he says. “They have also opted for popular topics (such as Máxima, ed.) So that the viewer does not feel too stupid.”
