Age is just a number, let’s say. It is never too late to start a more active lifestyle. It was shown by the age of 64 at the latest Julia Linn Olson.
In an interview with Women’s Healt, Olson told his own story and how sparking in sports and exercise re -ignited at an older age.
Olson, who was actively moving around and from different sports from swimming and cheerleading to athletics, received a diagnosis at the age of 11, which told him that he was suffering from type 1 diabetes, which was a bad blow to his working life style.
As a result of diabetes diagnosis, Olson developed neuropathy, blindness, heart disease and renal failure, which made exercise more difficult to exercise.
Olson said he had been hospitalized several times, and there were many “near misses”.
– I didn’t always know if I could survive the next morning. I did everything to take care of myself, but nothing worked. My body did not respond to the treatments and it was really discouraging, he said on the magazine.
Olson’s kidneys permanently deceived when he was 34 years old. The doctors gave him two options: dialysis or experimental double bridge.
He chose the latter, and the surgery succeeded.
– When I turned 62, I was extremely grateful that I was still alive. To celebrate my body and survival, I decided to become as good as possible.
Olson participated in a power challenge for three months and over 40 years of age, focusing on weight lifting and nutrition optimization.
The iron woman got hooked at once. The power fly would bite and there was no return.
He did not know that it was a competition. However, Olson had progressed the most in three months and won the challenge – even though he had never raised weights before.
He felt great and hired a personal coach for about a year after the challenge. Olson is not motivated by the scales, but development.
– I wanted to raise heavier weights with the right technique, learn more about my body and achieve my full potential.
At the age of 64, Olson participated in the Masters Series BikiniFitnes competition for the first time 30 years. He hesitated at first, but eventually encouraged.
He won, and this sport also took him as he went.
However, in his staggering journey, Olson is the fact that he can be an example for other women – both young and older.
