The sporting goods dealer Decathlon, based in France, further expands its presence in Germany. On Tuesday, the subsidiary decathlon Germany SE & Co. KG announced that a new branch will be opened in the Lower Bavarian city of Straubing on September 26.

The store at Aiterhofener Straße 222 will therefore have a sales area of over 1,500 square meters and offer a range that is tailored to local demand. The focus is on the areas of outdoor, mobility and wellness, explained the retailer.

“With the new branch, we are reacting to the growing need in a sports -loving region,” explains Nils Allmang, who will lead the Straubing branch, in a statement. “With its proximity to the Bavarian Forest, an active club landscape and diverse leisure opportunities, the area around Straubing offers the perfect environment for our new store.”

The reopening is another step as part of the current growth strategy of Decathlon Germany. By 2027, the retailer plans to expand its branch network to 150 locations in Germany. 60 new openings are planned.
