The SSV Ulm 1846 football won its first win of the season on the second day of the 3rd league against Aue.
Max Scholze (44th minute) scored the winning goal for second division relegated Ulm in a competitive game. Both teams left some good chances. The SSV rehabilitated itself for the opening loss last week at When Wiesbaden. FC Erzgebirge Aue, however, has to continue to wait for its first three in the new season – the violets only got one counter out of their first two games.
Warmmach shirts As a gesture to the injured Johannes Reichert
At SSV Ulm 1846 football, the new addition Marcel Seegert was signed during the week in the starting formation. The 31-year-old central defender, who came from SV Waldhof Mannheim was fetched as a replacement for Johannes Reichert. The SSV captain had with the Ulm opening defeat near Wehen Wiesbaden (1: 3) drawn a cruciate ligament tear. Out of solidarity with the 33-year-old, the players of the Spatzen got warm before the game against Aue in “Johannes-Reichert-Bauflaufshirts”. It was read on this: “We will never give you up!”
Ulms Lucas Röser hits the inner post
A lively game developed in Ulm from the start. Aue had the first goal chance of the game (9th) through a header from Ryan Malone after a corner of Marvin Stefaniak, but the ball just passed the goal. In turn, the sparrows left a top -class carpenter: In the 22nd minute, attacker Lucas Röser held his foot after a sharp cross from Dennis Chessa, but the ball went to the left inner post of the Auer Tor.
Max Scholze breaks the spell
A drinking break followed shortly afterwards – and then the game flow was initially gone. Successful combinations now had rarity, as well as other good opportunities. When everything looked like a goalless draw for the break, Ulm struck. Niklas Kölle was sent steeply on the left and, almost from the baseline, fit sharply into the back area. There, Scholze was spot on and hit the right corner for the 1-0 half-time lead for the home side.
Shortly after the break, the violets had their best chance of the game so far: After a free kick by Stefaniak and a header by Julian Günther-Schmidt, Ulm’s keeper Christian Ortag saved the narrow lead (54.).
Christian Ortag is on the spot again
Ulm was lower in the second half, so that FC Erzgebirge Aue had more space and thus had an optical field superiority. The SSV calculation was clear: to switch to balls and add the second goal. As far as the theory – in practice, guests came to further occasions. Günther-Schmidt failed, for example, from Nahdistanz on the re-reacting Ortag (67th).
Shortly before the end, Ulm would have had to increase after a counterattack: Max Brandt failed after passing from Scholze on the strongly reacting FCE goalkeeper Louis Lord (83.). In the final phase, the SSV defense then resisted the Auer pressure, so that in the end it remained the sparrows of the sparrows. However, the SSV also had the luck of the efficient, because Erik Weinhauer missed the great opportunity for the guests in the seventh minute of stoppage time when he shot out of Nahdistanz. Even the strong place day would have been powerless.
For the sparrows, the away game at MSV Duisburg continues in two weeks (23.08., 4:30 p.m.). Aue then receives the promoted TSV Havelse (August 24th, 4:30 p.m.).
TSG Hoffenheim II in Aachen with lightning start
TSG Hoffenheim II, however, made a real cold start in the away game with Alemannia Aachen. Kelven Frees (5th) and Paul Hennrich (13th) ensured the early two-goal lead of the Kraichgauer. Lukas Scepanik (43.) shortened for the Westphalia, but Deniz Zeitler (56th) restored the old distance. The Alemannia came up again through a converted penalty from Gianluca Gaudino (63.). After a yellow-red card against Aachen’s defender Lamar Yarbrough, the guests had little trouble defending their lead. After a counterattack, Tiago Poller finally put the lid on the 4-2 final score for Hoffenheim (90th).

This means that the climber from the Kraichgau remains undefeated on the second matchday – four points from two games are a strong opening balance for Hoffenheim. The next matchday, TSG will receive Energie Cottbus (August 23, 2 p.m.), Aachen will meet TSV 1860 Munich at the same time.
