After a good three years without an official office in football, Felix Magath takes another position. The 72-year-old was temporarily appointed by the Board of Directors at his former club as an active, SV Viktoria Aschaffenburg. The association competes in the regional league Bavaria. Aschaffenburg is also the birthplace of Magaths.
“The experience as well as the excellent expertise from his long-term and successful player and coaching career at home and abroad brings Felix Magath, born in the newly formed board team. The 72-year-old will drive the sporting development of the entire club as a sports director and thus returns to his hometown,” says a club announcement.
Magath was most recently trainer from Hertha BSC, with whom he secured the relegation in the Bundesliga in 2022 through the relegation. Other stations as a coach led him to FC Bayern, VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04. But he also worked as a sports director, for example with the royal blue. Most recently, he wanted to become President of the HSV, but his candidacy was not allowed. There were also reports that Hertha is said to have dealt with Magath in search of a new managing director. Magath is initially temporarily in office and has to stand for election at a general meeting that is scheduled to take place this year and convince the members. Only then does he become a full -fledged members of the board. Magath switched to TV 1860 Aschaffenburg as a youth player in 1964 before signing Viktoria Aschaffenburg eight years later.
