Femke Broeders-Bol is not weighed down by high expectations for an 800-meter adventure: ‘I find that a bit disrespectful’

She can run very well, but Femke Broeders-Bol is not cut out for bluffing. As a newcomer to the 800 meters, she is not yet thinking about top prizes or Ellen van Langen’s national record from 1992. At least that is what she says herself. “Ellen ran that record when she became Olympic champion. I am only now discovering that distance and I don’t have very specific goals yet.”
