Magath surprised and takes on a new job

Felix Magath returns to the football business. It surprisingly pulls him into his old home.
Felix Magath has a new job. Almost five decades after his last game for Viktoria Aschaffenburg, Magath takes responsibility again at his home club. The former HSV professional becomes the new sports director of the regional league.
The 72-year-old initially starts the office temporarily, as Viktoria Aschaffenburg announced on Saturday. It is to be officially confirmed at a general meeting this year. Magath works on a voluntary basis and is supposed to further develop the club in the regional league Bavaria.
The club hopes for new impulses from Magath’s “experience and excellent expertise from its long-term and successful player and coaching career at home and abroad. According to the Victoria, he should “advance the sporting development of the entire association”.
Magath was born in Aschaffenburg in 1953 and began his football career at TV 1860. In 1972 he switched to Viktoria for two years before starting his successful professional career. He later celebrated the greatest successes with the Hamburger SV, with which he won the European Cup of the national champions.
Most recently, Magath had tried to influence the HSV as President. However, the association advisory board did not allow him to choose. Now he returns to the Lower Franconian home – three leagues deeper than recently active.
