A Social Run Club Is a running group where it is mainly about the cosiness. Running together, chatting and connecting with other runners – often peers. Participating is free.

After running the Geuzenloop, Amy had the running virus. But when she went on a journey afterwards, one thing was left abroad: her motivation. Once back at home, she noticed that she needed a boost. She says: “I thought: maybe there is one Run Club In Zoetermeer. Like a stick behind the door. ” But her search soon went wrong, there was no existence in our city. Run Club Start with me? ”

Eva saw her video and didn’t have to think long. “I thought exactly the same,” she says. “In Amsterdam and Rotterdam you have all those fun Run clubsbut on Sunday morning I really don’t go that way for a round of 5 kilometers. When I saw her tap, I knew immediately: we have to do this. “

By weather and wind

The girls knew each other vaguely from Erasmus College, but after a coffee it was clear: this collaboration is a golden match. Three weeks later was the very first run. The turnout? Six runners, despite the flowing rain. “I understand that you turn around when you wake up and see that it is raining,” says Eva laughing. “That is why it was extra fun that people were coming. We just ran through the rain.”

The second edition was already a completely different story. “At that time there were fourteen, by one viral taptok,” says Amy. “And there was also a girl who found it very exciting to come alone. Yet cool that someone just does that.” Eva nods and says: “That is also the goal. That people just dare to come, even if they don’t know anyone. Just come alone!”

Every round is different

The well-known tour of Noord-Aa, along the beautiful houses on the Voorweg or right through the neighborhoods; Every round is different. Eva says: “We try to run a different round every month, so you discover new pieces from the city.” With Eva in front and Amy at the back they keep the group together. And every run is 5 kilometers, at a pace that is easy to do for beginners. “You don’t have to be super sporty, the pace is that you can still keep chatting while running.”

You don’t have to take out membership to run with. You can register via Tiktok, Instagram or Strava. “You don’t necessarily have to sign up, but it is handy for us. We recently brought drinks, then we know how much we need,” says Amy.

Put on your bad shoes

The next Sprint & Sip-Run is on Sunday, August 17 at 10:00 am, the group starts from the market behind the Stadshart. Amy says enthusiastically: “It’s always fun!” And the name actually says it: first run and then drink something together. Eva explains: “You notice that at our age many people leave Zoetermeer. That is precisely why it is so nice to make contact with peers who still live here.”
