The former Formula 1 team boss Günther Steiner is firmly convinced that Mick Schumacher’s royal class continues to live. The RTL expert believes that his former driver is one of four realistic candidates for a cockpit at the US racing team Cadillac.

How well are Mick Schumacher’s chances of staying at Cadillac from the upcoming Formula 1 season? This question not only arises many German fans, but also many other pilots who also flirt with the square. Günther Steiner says: Mick’s stocks are quite promising.

“I think Mick has a good chance,” said the former Haas team boss in an exclusive interview with RTL/NTV and Sport.de. The reason for Steiner’s assessment: “Cadillac needs a driver with experience in Formula 1 and there are currently not many drivers who have no job but have already driven Formula 1.”

Steiner: Schumacher has learned extra knowledge of Mercedes

Schumacher is a hard worker and also a “very nice person,” emphasized the South Tyrolean. In addition, the 26-year-old brings a portion of extra knowledge. “When he was a test driver at Mercedes, he did not run a race, but learned a lot about a good big team. This knowledge of how a successful team works, Cadillac could help,” said the RTL expert.

At the same time, Steiner also knows that there are of course other drivers in the race for the cockpit. He sees three of them on one level with Mick. “Sergio Pérez, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu. Everyone has experience in Formula 1. Mick Schumacher is my four favorites,” he explained.

Steiner: He would be the ideal teammate for Mick

In the eyes of the South Tyrolean, the current Mercedes reserve driver Bottas would best fit in the eyes. The reason is their common background. “He and Mick were both at Mercedes and learned the same work ethics,” said Steiner.

Steiner no longer believes that Cadillac follows its original course and puts an American driver in the cockpit.

“I don’t think they take an American driver because the risk is just too big. The boys have no experience in Formula 1 and then it can quickly backfire. That doesn’t help anyone,” he said.
