At VfL Wolfsburg, Anneke Borbe prevailed as number one. Now the goalkeeper is looking for the next challenge.
Anneke Borbe dares the next career step and leaves Germany for the first time. The 24-year-old goalkeeper changes free of charge from VfL Wolfsburg to the English top club FC Arsenal. The Champions League winner confirmed the transfer on Monday.
Borbe prevailed against Merle Frohms at the Bundesliga club in February and had become number one. The fact that she would leave the Lower Saxony after the end of her contract has been determined since the beginning of May.
“I am really proud to go to this great club. It’s great to be part of Arsenal in such an exciting time,” said Borbe.
Before moving to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, Borbe had played for Werder Bremen for seven years. In the past season it was used in ten Bundesliga departures, was on the pitch twice in the DFB Cup and three times in the Champions League. Arsenal did not provide information on the duration of the contract.
