In the Scandinavian duel, Denmark kept against it. In the end, however, the quality of the favorites from Sweden prevailed.

Sweden celebrated a successful start to the women of women and defeated Denmark 1-0 (0-0). After a goalless first half, Filippa fishing in the 55th minute scored the goal of the day for Sweden. After the game against Poland, the two Scandinavian teams are the upcoming opponents of the DFB team.

Harder starts – Eriksson on the bench

It was a very special encounter for two players. The Danish Pernille Harder and Sweden’s Magdalena Eriksson are not only hunting for titles at FC Bayern, they are also a couple and engaged privately. Harder led the Danish eleven as a captain on the field, but Eriksson had to take a seat on the bench with thigh problems and was not used.

On the lawn of the Geneva Stadium, there was no space for sentimentalities anyway on Friday. The teams were recently met in the Nations League, both times Sweden kept the upper hand (2: 1 and 6: 1) and therefore went into play as a favorite.

No penalty for Denmark

The Swedes, in whom Captain Kosovare Asllani played her 200th international match, started playing offensive. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd prevailed on the right side and served fishing in the back. The end of the 27-year-old was just blocked to the corner.

But the Danes also quickly showed themselves in the opposing half. Harder was fouled in midfield, and in the subsequent long free kick, Sweden’s Madelen Janogy got the ball on the hand, which triggered a varically long var check. Result: Hand on the ball, but in advance Janogy got out of step by leg places – not a penalty (11th).

Østergaard parried free kick hammer

Sweden remained the more active team. Once again, the Agile Kaneryd prevailed over the outside, but her cross on attacker Stina Blackstenius was consistently defended by Emma Færge (17th). After 25 minutes, referee Edina Alves Batista from Brazil asked both teams at temperatures around 30 degrees to drink.

Afterwards the game was further shaped by intensive duels on both sides. Sweden tried to build pressure, but had the necessary punch missed. Denmark focused on securing his own goal, and his own offensive campaigns became less common. The next one was promising: Emma Snerle served Harder, who started her shot from 18 meters a little too high (36.). Eight minutes later, the Swedish fans already had the scream on their lips, but goalkeeper Maja Bay Østergaard steered Angeldahl’s free kick hammer over the crossbar. So it stayed with the goalless draw until the break whistle.

Sweden cracks the Danish defense with a double pass

Both teams started to the second half without a change of personnel. And again the first action belonged to the Swedes. Again Kaneryd served her colleague Angelhahl, who came to the end, but was too central – there was more in it. She did better in the 55th minute when she hit the lead in the long corner after a double pass with Asllani.

Denmark almost succeeded almost only a minute, but Nathalie Björn blocked Snerle’s shot well in front of his own goal line. On the other hand, it was even scarce: Blackstenius came to a conclusion after a corner kick, but Frederikke Thögersen reacted in the way and scratched the ball from the line (62nd). It was now significantly more swing and Sweden played on the second goal. But Janogy sets her header just next to the goal (65th).

Harder’s cracker ends up on the crossbar

Sweden was now clearly better, Superstar Harder was too often on his own with the Danishes to be able to do something on the offensive. In addition, the team of coach Andrée Jeglertz seemed to disappear into the high temperatures. From nowhere, Harder offered the chance to equalize, but the 18-meter hammer of the 32-year-old clapped on the crossbar (81st).

Five minutes later it was Harder again, who headed hard on the goal after a corner kick but was blocked. Sweden then got the game under control in the last few minutes and celebrated a deserved success.
