Finns consume bread differently than Swedes, showing the consumer surveys of bread information and the Swedish Bröd Institute.
According to the study, 72 % of Finns eat bread every day. According to a study by a Swedish Brödtermometer, only 55 % of Swedes reach the same, the bread report says.
Thus, according to the research results, Finns are more of a bread eater than our western neighbor. 91 % of Finns consider bread to taste good, and 85 % of the Swedes think so.
In Finland, bread is eaten most at breakfast. 76 % of consumers say they eat bread for breakfast, 70 % for an evening snack and 46 % in a snack.
Even in Sweden, bread is mainly for breakfast, where 70 % of consumers eat it. Only 34 % of Swedes eat bread in an evening meal, and only 24 % in a snack.
Finns eat bread more often than Swedes at lunch and dinner.
Is bread a meal?
In Finland, 44 percent of bread eaters think that bread can be used to make a full meal. A little more of the Swedes think so: 59 % of consumers.
In particular, Swedish young people eat bread at least twice a week. Finnish young adults eat bread as a snack.
77 % of Finnish consumers prefer to eat their whole grains as bread and 42 % want it as a porridge. Of the Swedes, bread is the primary source of whole grain for 68 %. Only a quarter of the porridge is obtained.
More than half of Finns think that the fiber is the same thing as whole grains. In addition to cereal products, fiber is obtained from vegetables, fruits and berries. As the name implies, whole grain grain is only available from cereal products.
