Italian cuisine is popular with many people. Not so with Weston McKennie. For this, the ex-Schalker received a lot of criticism.
Weston McKennie has been playing at Juventus Turin in Italy for two years. Last season, the former Schalke completed 32 series A games and scored two goals in the league. Actually, the 26-year-old midfielder seems to feel comfortable at his club-only the Italian food does not like the footballer, as he recently revealed in a podcast. This in turn horrified a former Italian goalkeeper so much that he now countered.
Emiliano Viviano, who played six games for Italy and also made 251 series A games, now explained to “TVplay”: “In the USA there is the worst meal in the world. There even fry the soles.” Then he added to the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni,: “If I were Meloni, this guy would never come back to Italy. How can you say that there would be no culinary diversity in Italy?”
McKennie in the “Talk with Us” podcast about Italian dishes: “Italian cuisine is not varied. Always pasta, pizza, meat and fish. That’s why I prefer American food.”
The American midfielder added: “Italian products are really good, but if I go to an American fast food restaurant and continue to another ten minutes, I notice that the meat tastes very different. When I order pasta with pasto in two different Italian restaurants, it always tastes the same.”
Viviano did not want to let that sit: “They have nothing in America, and what they have brought.
