The transfer poker around Florian Wirtz has come to an end after several turns and negotiation rounds. The 22 -year -old offensive player leaves Bayer 04 Leverkusen this summer and joins Liverpool FC. In order to get rid of the German international, the Reds are heard a package that realistically remained a little less than 150 million euros, i.e. at the initial prize presentation of the Werkelf.

“The Athletic” wrote from an agreement to a total of EUR 136.3 million, of which 117.5 million euros should flow immediately – another 18.8 million euros are possible in additional payments. According to the “Sport Bild”, EUR 125 million will be fixed to Leverkusen, 15 million euros are realistic and another 10 million euros are conceivable via bonuses that are difficult to reach. For this, Wirtz with the LFC would have to win the Champions League and have a part of it.

In both cases, it is said that not all possible bonus payments for Wirtz, in order to get the maximum revenue, are easy to reach. One thing is clear: the professional leaves the German champions from 2024 two years before the end of the contract and breaks records with his transfer. The right foot replaces Bayer’s own plant Kai Havertz as the most expensive German in football history and Enzo Fernández as the most expensive purchase of the Premier League history. The most expensive transfer in the Bundesliga is including bonuses Ousmane Dembélé, for which BVB received EUR 135 million from FC Barcelona.

Wirtz had been in agreement with the English champion Liverpool for weeks – a gross salary is said to be gross a gross salary of around EUR 20 million. On the other hand, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported 200,000 pounds per week plus bonuses, which would be £ 10.4 million or the equivalent of a good 12 million euros a year. For comparison: The clubicons Virgil van Dijk (33) and Mohamed Salah (32) were raised to around 25 million euros per season as part of their contract extensions by 2027.

The current market value of the most valuable German footballer, together with Jamal Musiala, amounts to 140 million euros, and he cracked the 100 million mark a year and a half ago. Wirtz represents another painful departure for the Leverkusener after coach Xabi Alonso (to Real Madrid) and the top -class Jeremie Frimpong (also to Liverpool) and Jonathan Tah (FC Bayern) had to be drawn. With the professionals mentioned, a total of EUR 220 million has given themselves to market value.

Have a say now!

As a farewell, Wirtz said: “It is not easy to continue after five and a half years. I have experienced unique moments here in Leverkusen. The club always supported and believed me in the difficult time of my injury. For this and for the great sympathy that was given to me every day by those responsible and really all employees. From Bayer 04, who have driven me and the team all the years, I would like to say: I was already looking for my best for you.

I’m not here to have fun.

On the website of the LFC, the DFB kicker is quoted as follows: “I am not here to have fun, I also want to achieve something and give the fans what they earn. Of course I want to continue this performance. (…) I want to win everything every year! First of all, we have to do our work. (…) Last season they won the premier League, so it is my goal to win them back in Champions League to come on. Wirtz added: “Yes, that was also an important point for me: that I can improve my personal level and physical condition, because I think everyone knows that players are in Liverpool machines – really strong and really physically. But I also see this as an opportunity for myself to improve myself on this point. So yes, I just thought that this was the right place for me.” He wanted to go to an association that is one of the three best in the world – that was the case with Liverpool.
