“Very, very hard”: punishment for Red Bull drivers in front of Canada-GP

In third free training at the Grand Prix of Canada, Yuki Tsunoda has a serious mistake. The sanction follows later – and throws the Japanese back.
Yuki Tsunoda has to accept a sensitive starting place penalty at the Grand Prix of Canada. The Red Bull Pilot was returned by ten starting places by the racing commissioners after the third free training session. This was announced by the race management during qualifying.
The trigger was an overtaking maneuver under red flags: Tsunoda had passed McLaren driver Oscar Piatri, who was only slow after a wall of the wall with tire damage. Although Piatri only brought his vehicle back to the box, the overtaking was not allowed according to the regulations. Tsunoda should have “followed a safe distance”, according to the race management.
Red Bull’s motorsport consultant Helmut Marko called the punishment at Sky “very, very hard”. Tsunoda falls back significantly with the decision in the race-because in qualifying on Saturday evening German time, the 25-year-old only drove to eleventh place, so starts on Sunday from the end of the field. A setback for the Japanese at the Grand Prix in Montreal.
