Since Brian Wilson’s death, there has been a wave of grief. BIllie Joe Armstrong from Green Day paid tribute to the Beach Boys legend and released a cover of “I Get Around”.
Armstrong divided his version of the classic from 1964 into Instagram, which goes towards punk rock and contains a grandiose guitar reef. He also admitted that the cover was not new and was put on hold some time ago. “Thank you, Brian Wilson,” he wrote. “A few years ago I recorded a cover of ‘i Get Around’, but I could never share it. One of my absolute favorite songs ever.”

Armstrong is one of many musicians who have paid Wilson tribute; Sting also covered the Beach Boys song “God Only Knows” at a concert in Germany. “Today one of my heroes died, Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys,” he said before the performance. “So I want to sing a song that I love.”
