The paths between Nick Chubb and the Cleveland Browns in the NFL separate. The running back is supposed to pull the AFC South.
As NFL-insider Ian Rapoport reports at short message service X, Nick Chubb is expected to follow the Houston Texans. The running back should therefore move to the AFC South, provided that everything goes according to plan during the medical check.
Chubb was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL Draft 2018 in the second round. The 29-year-old subsequently developed into one of the best running backs in the entire league.
In four of his seven seasons so far in the NFL, Chubb broke the sound barrier of 1000 rushing yards.
Nick Chubb last with injury bad luck
According to Rapoport, Chubb and the Cleveland Browns had exchanged a possible new deal before this year’s NFL Draft. However, the parties involved should not have found a solution, so that Chubb is still available as Free Agent on the market.
Now the Houston Texans seem to take the race to take four times per bowler. In the person of Joe Mixon, the Texans already have a prominent running back in their own ranks.
Chubb must first pass the mandatory medical check. The 29-year-old had to end the past NFL season early after week 15 due to a foot injury after he was only late anyway. Chubb therefore only completed eight missions in which he was able to contribute 332 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Now the farewell to the Cleveland Browns is imminent.
The Houston Texans won the AFC South in 2024 with a record of ten wins and seven defeats. In the playoffs, Patrick Mahomes ended in the divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs (14:23).
