The nitrogen policy keeps farmers in the hold
Just like the rest of the Netherlands, Noord-Holland is on nitrogen lock. The cabinet fallen did not agree on the course of the policy and did not get any further than some watery compromises.
“We are worried about that,” says Deputy Jelle Beemsterboer. “The nitrogen ruling of the Council of State cannot be granted a lot of permits. We notice this in the field of agriculture, housing, and also in the granting of permits for events. It is important that this is resolved as quickly as possible.”
For the farmers there has been uncertainty for a long time, says arable farmer Jan Ham from Nieuw-Vennep. “I hope that the next cabinet dares to make decisions about the future of agriculture. That may lead to murmur, but then we will go ahead. Now it was to put the brake with the brake.”
Martijn de Jong from Landschap Noord-Holland would rather see that the province itself now takes action to solve the nitrogen problem. He points to Gelderland, where a 500 -meter buffer zone has recently been announced around nature reserves. “We hope that the province of Noord-Holland will also start.”
