From 2 June to 30 September, the subsidy scheme for Support Employers deployment Status holders (SOWIS) will be reopened. This scheme offers employers financial support in the supervision of status holders in the workplace, aimed at bridging language and culture differences. Because of these differences, the extra deployment of employers requires to hire status holders sustainably. Employers can submit an application via the Subsidy portal.
Compared to the first opening round in 2024, there are some changes implemented. In this way, more status holders are eligible for a subsidy. Employers can now also apply for a subsidy for status holders with a residence permit for asylum for an indefinite period. In addition, the subsidy budget has been increased to 3 million euros.
The SOWIS subsidy can be requested for status holders who are employed for a maximum of six months at the time of the grant application, or for status holders who have not been employed before.
The employer who received a subsidy in the previous application round is not eligible this time.
