It was a big wish for the terminally sick Martijn Krabbé: to travel with his family to India and Sri Lanka once more before his death. He would travel there in April. “My father has been there once, but not the rest of us. So he thought that was an important journey to make,” said his son Bickel earlier this year.

Abdomen

Unfortunately it couldn’t be, Martijn says Instagram. “How is it going at the moment? Better than the situation as it occurred at the beginning of March. I got an acute abdominal inflammation. Of course it had nothing to do with my diagnosis, but lasted a month and a half. I largely spent it in the hospital.”

That situation was quite stressful, according to the presenter. “When I was also told that they did not dare the risks of all kinds of complications during an operation, I was a bit shocked. If your inflammatory values do not drop, you seem to be the pinch. Fortunately they did.”

Penguins

All in all, Martijn couldn’t make a distant flight. “The trip to India and Sri Lanka of course did not go through, but I was already happy that a visit to Artis was available again. My favorite animals live there, but penguins!”

He did make a trip to France. “I had enough energy to make a trip along the castles of the Loire with Deborah. Very romantic and very deserved, because I can occasionally be a dragon. (…) After a year and a half of living with my illness, every extra day still feels like a gift!”

Ever India?

Now that, like every year, there is an extremely hot summer coming in India, which makes walking outside virtually impossible, it is highly uncertain whether Martijn can make the journey that he had so desired ever. Moreover, the border conflict with Pakistan has also flared up again, Evert Santegoeds emphasizes in the podcast Strictly private.

The magazine maker says: “Yes, the situation in India is indeed not that you are going to celebrate a quiet holiday there now. So yes, there is every reason for Martijn to pick every day. Fortunately he made a nice trip to Rheims, the Champagne region together with his wife.”

Drink

At least Martijn is not gloomy, Winston Gerschtanowitz knows. The SBS 6 star tells Shownieuws: “I drank a glass at home last week and ate a glass and ate a bite, because of course Martijn loves tasty things, so every so often we eat together ‘very little tasty things’, knowing what I mean.”

He concludes: “I have to say that he is just so incredibly clever and good in the game. Of course the competition of fighting against this. It went well with him, he had energy and the holiday in the holidays, this trip. Great that he was energetic to make that trip. It is hard to move in if you are not in it.”
