Lisa Vittozzi was damn to watch in the past biathlon season. In the meantime, the overall World Cup winner of 2023/24 is working on her comeback and continues to progress.
“Lisa looks better again. She is not yet fully trained, but increases her workload. She is on the way back to normal,” reveals Italy’s biathlon sports director Klaus Höllrigl compared to the portal “Sportnews.BZ”.
Lisa Vittozzi “worked a lot with doctors and physios in a rehabilitation center. So she got the problems under control, it was not necessary. But of course it was not a simple time for Lisa,” said the winter sports official.
Vittozzi had to miss the complete biathlon season 2023/24 due to back problems. In winter, the Italian had secured the large crystal ball in the overall World Cup.
Vittozzi herself admitted the injury cold at an event at an event of the Italian association in April. “I didn’t expect it because I had a very good preparation and was very satisfied. And I had also improved compared to the previous year. So I was determined to defend my title,” said the 30-year-old.

In the meantime, Vittozzi is fighting back. The starting signal for the 2025/26 biathlon season is found on November 29th in the Swedish Östersund.
The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (6th to February 22nd) are the big highlight of the coming winter – especially for hosts Italy.
“We do not pretend a certain medal destination. But we have been putting everything in the balance that everything works in February 2026 for years, and we don’t want to put up with any allegations that we would not have thought of everything. In the end we were able to enjoy many arrows in the quiver and want to enjoy Olympia,” said Italy’s biathlon sports director Höllrigl.
