National player Hendrich leaves VfL Wolfsburg

Kathrin Hendrich has been playing for Wolfsburg since 2020, winning numerous titles. Now the VfL is over for the defender. Where it goes on for them is open.
Kathrin Hendrich will leave VfL Wolfsburg after five years. As the ex-champion announced on Monday, the national player’s contract expires after the current season. The 33-year-old defender will leave the club in summer and devote herself to a new challenge.
Hendrich switched from FC Bayern to Wolfsburg in 2020. Before that, she also played for Bayer Leverkusen and the 1st FFC Frankfurt. With Frankfurt she won the Champions League in 2015, with VfL Wolfsburg she won the DFB Cup four times and once became German champion.
In the national team, too, Hendrich was part of the permanent squad for years. She played 82 caps for the DFB selection. In 2016 she won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, followed in 2022 by EM silver and 2024 bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris.
On Monday, Hendrich personally turned to the fans on Instagram: “In this way, I would like to tell you that my time at VfL Wolfsburg will come to an end next summer.” The winning of the “German Doubles” was one of the highlights for them. She thanked herself for the time together and added: “I could continue writing. So in short: thanks for the great time.”
The farewell of the long -time player is planned next Sunday at the last home game of the season. Which club will continue for Hendrich is still open.
