Argentina’s football again bears grief within a short time. According to the National Association, world champion Luis Galván died two weeks after the death of goalkeeper legend Hugo Gatti at the age of 77.
At the first World Cup triumph of the South Americans in 1978, the defender was in their own country in every minute of the game for the team of the coaching icon César Luis Menotti, who had also died.
Galván, who never played for one of the great Argentine clubs from Buenos Aires, played a total of 34 caps for the Gauchos from 1975 to 1982.
Most recently, the former defender was suffering from pneumonia. Before that, Galván had to struggle with kidney problems.
