For the first star Down of the heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois, the old western metaphor of two dueling revolers are striving for, you can be held: Dubois was the first to pull, even called security. Usyk reacts unimpressed as always.

The “kick off” of the media day with the rival heavyweight champions Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois had a short excitement.

In the middle circle of the Wembley Stadium, where it goes on July 19, the boxers looked deep into the eyes. At first nobody stood up – until Dubois suddenly pushed the Ukrainian away with both hands.

Usyk took a step back, apparently put himself in a fighting position and indicated a counterattack, whereupon Dubois took his hands up for safety’s sake. The security hurried and intervened – and Usyk stopped with a big grin.

A sign of the weakness of Dubois? Hardly, but rather a commercially available action to heat the PR machine.

At “Talksport” the rivals later met again in the radio studio. Then Dubois paid respect for his opponent for his success, although he of course announced that his time had come.

Boxing: Department Controvers at USYK vs. Dubois I

Usyk and Dubois are fighting for all four recognized World Cup belts in summer. The Ukrainian had actually combined the heavyweight crown in May 2024 with his victory against Tyson Fury.

A little later, however, he lay down the IBF title to give Fury a revenge instead of defending the belt against IBF compulsory challengers Dubois. The IBF then highlighted the Englishman from the “interim” master to the full champion.

Usyk and Dubois meet in the ring for the second time. In August 2023, Usyk won the first duel in Breslau in round nine after he had gone on the boards in the fifth round. The referee decided after a supposed body hit Dubois’ but at low strike and admitted the world champion a four -minute break.

The scene is still hot and controversial, especially in England. Dubois felt cheated, emphasized again at the media day that the blow was legal. His promoter Frank Warren even had several printed photos of the scene in his luggage.

Usyk and his warehouse, however, argue – supported by the frontal recording of the impact – that Dubois Right Faust hit the champion below the belt line at bladder height. In the boxing, blows that strike below the navel are seen as a deep strokes.
