De Graafschap has put trainer Reinier Robbemond aside with immediate effect today. The club from Doetinchem holds the Heerhugowaarder responsible for the disappointing results. De Graafschap is in ninth place in the first division.
Robbemond had only been employed by De Graafschap since last summer. The 50-year-old coach was unable to win the last five games with his team and Monday’s 2-0 defeat against Roda JC was enough for the board to thank Robbemond for services rendered.
Fresh wind
“With the appointment of Reinier, we took a new path last summer. Initially, we also noticed the desired fresh wind, but development has stalled in recent months,” says Hans Martijn Ostendorp of De Graafschap. “We greatly appreciate Reinier’s commitment, knowledge and skills, but we believe that he is no longer the best head coach for De Graafschap. We have to be honest about that, and we conveyed that message today.”
De Graafschap has announced that it will look for a successor as soon as possible. This Friday the Super farmers a home game against MVV Maastricht.
