The German ice hockey men have increased significantly in the second friendly against the Czech Republic – but were unhappily lost.
Two days after the 0: 7 against the current world champion, the team of national coach Harold Kreis was defeated in front of 4,615 spectators in Regensburg with 0: 1 (0: 0: 0: 0, 0: 1).
The Czechs were dominant but not mandatory. In the first third, the World Cup title defender also used a goal shot ratio of 14: 2. Again and again the outstanding German goalkeeper Maximilian Franzreb was on hand.
Completion concerning goal
In the middle of the second third, Elis Hede missed the greatest chance for the selection of the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB). Overall, the German game is “much better”, attacker Danjo Leonhardt said before the final section.
The decisive goal was bitter. In majority, Germany’s defender Colin Ugbekile got the puck in the face, Ondrej Kovarcik broke through and scored the only goal of the game.
Next tests on Wednesday and Thursday in Slovakia
The next tests on the way to the World Championship, which will be played in Stockholm in Swedish from May 9th to 25th, will be competing against the host team from Slovakia on Wednesday and Thursday (6 p.m.).
In the World Cup group, Germany meets Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, Switzerland, USA, Czech Republic and Denmark. After the sensational silver at the 2023 World Cup, the German team in 2024 failed in the World Cup quarter-finals in the later Vice World Champion Switzerland.
