With three World Cup belts, Tina Rupprecht climbed into the ring in Potsdam – with one more she leaves him again.
Tina Rupprecht wrote German boxing history. The 32-year-old defeated the previously unbeaten Sumire Yamanaka on points in the gripping World Cup association fight in Potsdam and crowned himself into the “Undisputed” champion in the atomic weight (up to 46.3 kg).
The Augsburg native now holds all four World Cup belts from the most important associations WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF. It had succeeded in no boxer and no boxer from Germany in front of her. “To be honest, I am overwhelmed, I can’t realize it yet,” said the part -time teacher in the ring: “I think we really made advertising for women’s boxing and inspired people.”
Already with the title association of WBO, WBA and WBC last autumn, she had achieved historical in German boxing. For Rupprecht it was the 15th victory in the 17th fight.
A balanced exchange of blows developed from the start in front of 2,500 spectators in the sold -out MBS Arena. The only 1.53 meter tall Rupprecht with the nickname “Tiny Tina” was nimble on his feet and the more active boxer. Her Japanese opponent brought some counter strokes to the finish line. In the end, Rupprecht also prevailed thanks to its greater variability.
