Bruce Springsteen releases seven never -before -released albums. So in one go more than 83 new songs, all songs that he made before, but never released. Extra exciting for the fans, but are they waiting for so many songs?

Bruce ‘The Boss’ Springsteen will open the safe on 27 June. Of Tracks II: ‘The Lost albums’ Fans are presented with more than 83 new numbers. They are songs that the 75-year-old Springsteen wrote between 1983 and 2018 in his home studio, but which he never released for various reasons.

“He is a master writer, so there are many songs that don’t make the albums.”

Springsteen fan Côlette from Oosterhout already counted a bit that there was still material in the safe. “He sometimes hinted that something was still waiting,” she says enthusiastically. And now the time has come: “I am very curious, because there was once a reason not to put them on the original albums. Maybe he didn’t think it was good enough, or it didn’t fit on the record.” In any case, she is not worried about it: “Just look at tracks I, those were also four CDs with songs that have never been shown before. They certainly did not disappoint. He just writes a lot,” the fan explains.

The seven albums arrive in one go. Does the fan have time for that? “Well, we’ll make time for that!” Laughs Côlette. “In the car, at home, that will be fine.” So many albums in one go, is also not cheap for the fans. “I saw 250 euros passing by,” she says. “Fortunately you can also listen to Spotify, but those physical albums have booklets and lyrics, that is special.”

Wouldn’t The Boss do it a little bit for the money? Côlette believes not. “He has already sold rights to Sony, so I think he is already in,” she jokes. According to Côlette, he would like to share his music. “I can imagine that he would also like to remain relevant at his age.”

“It’s about ordinary people and real life.”

What makes Springsteen so special? “His texts,” says Colette without a doubt. “He writes about normal people, real life. Not everything is rose scent and moonshine.

And then live concerts: they are so special, according to the Oosterhoutse. “My first concert was when I was 15, together with a friend in De Kuip. That was magical.” If possible, she follows him. In the meantime she has seen him live 45 times. “New York, all kinds of European cities, it is nice to see how the audience differs per city. In Milan or Barcelona the fans are much more exuberant,” she says. “The Dutch are just cool frogs. In between, get a beer or chat exuberantly … the latter is so annoying,” she sighs.

The load of albums that are coming give at least enough ammunition to go on a good time and Côlette does have ears to that. “He continues to renew, also at his age.”
