
It is a successful end to the season for the German ski jumper. In addition, Andreas Wellinger made it to the podium alongside two Slovenes.
Successful end of the season for Andreas Wellinger: The German ski jumper was third in Planica behind the Slovenes Anze Lanisek and Domen Prevc. Wellinger flew 236.5 meters twice and secured the podium place. Prevc flew the most in the second round. He landed after 254.5 meters – and cracked the world record.
The season also ended conciliator for Pius Paschke. He became sixth. Karl Geiger landed in 10th place. Afterwards he said in the ARD: “I am pleased that it is going home. I found it a brilliant ski jumping day today. Everyone drove out with a grin below. There were many nice wide flights.”
Regarding Prevc’s flight, Geiger said: “I would not have thought a world record that it was possible, but was incredible. It was really fun.”
Karl Geiger was the first German to go down the ski jump and flew 227 meters. A decent jump, but it was not enough for the front because the Slovenian Domen Prevc flew 245 meters. For Andreas Wellinger, too, things went well in the first round, he landed after 236.5 meters and was the fourth best DSV eagle in the first run.
And Pius Paschke also showed an appealing performance with 231.5 meters, sorted in fifth place. Prevc ‘teammate Anze Lanisek, who came to a sensational 247.5 meters. In the second round, too, the Slovenes and PrevC even managed the world record over 254.5 meters.
Germany’s national coach Stefan Horngacher summed up in the ARD: “It was brutal today. My boys jumped very well, I was very satisfied. The rest of the flight show was fantastic. There was great advertising for our sport and a world record.”
