74:89! Alba concedes clear home defeat against Madrid

For the Berliners it was the twelfth defeat in the 18th game. The best Alba throwers were Maodo Lo with 21 and Marcus Eriksson and Ben Lammers with ten points each.

Alba Berlin clearly lost its first home game after the forced Corona break. On Thursday evening, the German basketball champions in the Euroleague lost in front of 1,600 spectators to Spanish top club Real Madrid 74:89 (36:48).

At Alba, all players from the corona quarantine have been back since Wednesday. Johannes Thiemann and Jonas Mattisseck were not back against Real.

It took the Berliners a few minutes to get into the game. Led by Lo, they then found their rhythm better and the international put the hosts ahead for the first time in the middle of the first quarter (11:8).

Alba continued to struggle offensively, made too many mistakes and missed too many throws. The necessary access was also lacking on the defensive. They only conceded two fouls in the first half. Real immediately punished these mistakes and pulled away to 15 points (33:48).

After the break, Alba came out of the dressing room with significantly more energy and fought back to four points (46:50).

The Spaniards remained unimpressed and played to their advantage under the basket. Before the last quarter the deficit was again 17 points (56:73) – so the game was practically decided.
