Flensburg’s Gottfridsson injured early on

In the intense game, neither team was able to break away. A two-goal lead was the maximum. Immediately after the change of sides, however, the home side pulled away by five goals, but lost the lead again. Flensburg had to do without their playmaker Jim Gottfridsson in the first half, who retired with a calf injury.

Erlangen is subject to Melsungen

The second round was also the end of the line for HC Erlangen, the surprise team from the previous cup season. Last year’s semi-finalist lost to MT Melsungen 30:34 (14:17). TBV Lemgo Lippe, recently even twice in the Final Four, meanwhile won the second division club VfL Lübeck-Schwartau with 32:23 (17:12).
