Hamburg (dpa) – President Marcell Jansen has spoken out in favor of personnel consistency in the management bodies of the second division soccer team Hamburger SV.
“We have given both board members absolute confidence,” said the ex-professional in an interview on the club’s website, adding: “Without a doubt, we will pool our energy and make a new start together.”
Most recently, differences between sports director Jonas Boldt and acting board member Thomas Wüstefeld were reported. Jansen disagreed: “In the most recent AR meeting, both board members emphasized how well the cooperation works.” The duo “given a completely different picture than that portrayed in the media and assured that they are also only concerned with HSV and that personal sensitivities play no role. We are not aware of any power discussions,” said Jansen about advising the supervisory board and board of directors last Wednesday.
The club could imagine extending the contract with Boldt, which expires next summer, said the 36-year-old president and ex-national player. Under Boldt, “the team, the coaching staff and the sporting director did a really good job,” emphasized Jansen. Wüstefeld, who was appointed to the board of directors as a member of the supervisory board at the beginning of the year, was “as is known until winter,” said Jansen.
