2nd league on Friday
Hamburg (dpa) – Hamburger SV celebrated its first derby victory in two and a half years against city rivals FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening. At Fortuna Düsseldorf, head coach Christian Preuss is about to be eliminated after the defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg.
Hosts HSV won in front of 2000 allowed spectators in the Volksparkstadion 2:1 (0:1) against the leader of the table and climbed to the promotion relegation place of the 2nd Bundesliga. St. Pauli, who have not won in four league games, remain at the top at least until Saturday. Darmstadt 98 can pass the Hamburgers.
Sebastian Schonlau (58th minute) and Bakery Jatta (70th) scored the goals for HSV. Guido Burgstaller (30′) scored on the other side and scored his 15th goal of the season from close range. HSV had not won the previous five city duels – four defeats, one draw. With the win, coach Tim Walter’s team is now promising in the promotion race.
The Rhinelanders lost 1-0 to 1. FC Nuremberg (0-1) and are slipping deeper and deeper into the relegation battle. The Franconians, on the other hand, moved up to fourth place for at least a day with their third win from the last four away games. In front of 750 spectators in the Merkur Spiel-Arena, Lino Tempelmann (2nd) scored the goal for the guests to win.
Preußer, who turns 38 on Sunday, was able to fall back on defense chief Andre Hoffmann after a break of more than two months and promised himself more stability and better organization. But the hosts were caught off guard after just 103 seconds when Tempelmann was able to walk through the Düsseldorf defense without resistance and scored with a deflected shot to make it 1-0 for Nuremberg. Shortly afterwards he even had the chance to make it 2-0.
