Second division soccer team HSV hopes in the northern duel with Hansa Rostock for the second win of the season in the second game. The game is overshadowed by the death of Hamburg club legend Uwe Seeler. The Hamburg police are in large-scale operations, but generally assume that the supporters behave appropriately.
Before the game kicks off this afternoon (1.30 p.m., in the live center on NDR.de), there will be a minute’s silence for HSV icon Seeler. The Hamburgers will play with black ribbon and in a special jersey with the lettering “Uns Uwe” on the chest. There should also be a banner in honor of Seeler.
“We lost the greatest HSVer of all time. We won’t be able to do justice to such an idol in one game,” said HSV coach Tim Walter on Friday in a halting voice. The 46-year-old regretted that there was never direct contact with the HSV icon: “Unfortunately, none of us were allowed to get to know him.”
Walter: Trying to win despite the sadness
The “extraordinary press conference” (Walter) for the game was correspondingly short: against Rostock it’s about trying to score the points despite the grief for “Us Uwe”. “It will be difficult in this situation, but we still want to win.” Lessons learned from the Braunschweig game, that HSV happily won 2-0 in the face of numerous Eintracht counterattacks, explained Walter. “We know what we didn’t do well last week and want to do better in the next few games.”
Hansa coach Haertel: “Be defensively awake”
Hansa coach Jens Härtel doesn’t expect his Rostock team to get as many chances as Braunschweig: “I don’t think HSV will make as many mistakes again.” Nevertheless, he announced a similar style of play as Eintracht: “We want to play from a lower position, but also move out and press up.” It is important that his team is “defensively alert”: We want to defend better on the flanks and allow as little as possible.”
Hansa: How to compensate for the Thill failure?
While Bakery Jatta and Anssi Suhonen, who have been injured for a long time, are still missing at HSV, Hansa has to cope with the loss of Sebastien Thill, who tore a ligament and capsule in his ankle in the 0-1 draw against Heidenheim.
“There are many options to compensate for the loss,” Härtel didn’t want to look at the cards. After all, Morris Schröter is fit again: “He worked a lot in training and is a candidate for the weekend.” The ex-HSV professional Lukas Hinterseer, who was committed on Thursday, will not be there at his former place of work. “But he can be a real asset. He knows what to expect,” says Haertel.
Hamburg police in large-scale operation
The Hamburg police are on a large scale today because of the hostile fan camps, but expect respectful behavior from the supporters against the background of the memory of Seeler. However, she prepared for everything. A total of up to 10,000 Hansa fans are expected in Hamburg, including 500 so-called problem fans. They want to walk from a parking lot in Lurup to the Volksparkstadion in the morning.
The police rely on fan separation, the Hamburg riot police receive support from officials from Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. They accompany the fans from arrival to departure.
Possible lineups:
HSV: Heuer Fernandes – Heyer, Vuskovic, Schonlau, Muheim – Meffert – Reis, Benes – Königsdörffer, Glatzel, Kittel
Hansa Rostock: Kolke – Malone, Fröde, Roßbach – Neidhart, Rhein, Dressel, Ingelsson, Fröling – Pröger, Verhoek
