2nd Bundesliga: Hamburger SV missed the victory in Dresden – 2nd Bundesliga – football

The performance of the guests had shockingly little to do with the necessary form for the return to promotion that was longed for in Hamburg. Only the defense was on top form for a long time, so Robert Glatzel’s lead after a well-performed counterattack in the 37th minute was okay.

Then with the compensation

After that, however, the guests failed to make decisive headway against astonishingly passive Dynamos and thus brought their opponent back into the game. With their first really compelling offensive action, Dresden immediately equalized: The ball landed via Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer and Julius Kade at Christoph Daferner, who effortlessly headed in Kade’s top cross.

There was no real rebellion after that. Dresden could have scored the winning goal again through Daferner, but Sebastian Schonlau saved for the beaten Daniel Heuer Fernandes just before the line.

Counterattack played poorly

The few counterattacks in the final quarter of an hour were played too sloppily by Hamburg, especially the technically strong Sonny Kittel had a very weak day.

Dynamo Dresden has to play at Hannover 96 on the next matchday on Sunday (January 23, 2022), Hamburger SV will play against FC St. Pauli on Friday.
