In this week’s episode of Rich and penniless, we will see how an entrepreneurial couple Lennu Keinänen and Heidi Parkkinenas well as a student Arttu Laukkanen change their lifestyles for a week.

Arttu is used to living on a student’s small budget and lack of money affects everything in life.

– Every thing has to be thought about. Sometimes you can’t pay the three-euro bus fare, then you have to walk. I like to cook, but some dishes cannot be made at all because the ingredients simply cost too much. Sometimes it might be that I fast one day a week, Arttu describes and says that he directs the money saved from food somewhere else.

When the new weekly budgets are announced, there are many thoughts in the air. Lennu and Heidi will live for the next few days on a sum of 75 euros – which is quite different from what they are used to. For a regular shopping trip, the couple says they spend around 120 euros at once.

Arttu, on the other hand, gets 2,000 euros.

– Here is the income of several months. It feels quite liberating when you suddenly have two thousand at your disposal. It’s like there’s always been a really heavy chain around you and now it’s being removed. Let’s be completely free for a week, Arttu continues.

He already has plans for the coming week. The shopping list includes, among other things, electronics that make it possible to do work better and promote the company’s affairs.

Lennu and Heidi head to the grocery store with a calculator in hand. For example, cucumber can be changed to a smaller one due to its high price per kilo, and selections also have to be made on the cheese shelves. However, Lennu believes that products that are half the price will hardly differ significantly in quality from what they are used to.

During the exchange week, Arttu, on the other hand, was able to enjoy a restaurant dinner, the final bill of which is 70 euros.

– This is the amount I spend on food in a week. Now all of this was consumed in one go. Now it’s not about the money, it’s okay, he smiles.
