FC Heidenheim against Regensburg, who settled in second and third place respectively. In Karlsruhe, FC St. Pauli comes back several times to ultimately share the points.

Promotion favorite HSV goes into the eleven-week break as second in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Tim Walter’s team defeated SV Sandhausen 4-2 (1-0) in the Volksparkstadion on Saturday, staying ahead of 1. FC Heidenheim, who took the relegation place. The sand houses remain in 16th place and can be handed down further on Sunday by 1. FC Nürnberg and Arminia Bielefeld.

Robert Glatzel with his tenth and eleventh goals of the season (27th/80th minute), Ludovit Reis (56th) and Aleksandr Zhirov with an own goal (74th) scored for Hamburg in front of 55,246 spectators. Cebio Soukou (50th) and Christian Kinsombi (68th) were successful for the guests.

Heidenheim wins 9-goal spectacle against Jahn Regensburg

1. FC Heidenheim secured its promotion spot in the 2nd Bundesliga after a wild game and spectacular overtime. At the end of the first half of the season, coach Frank Schmidt’s team won against SSV Jahn Regensburg 5:4 (3:2). After a 3-1 lead, Heidenheim initially had to accept the equaliser. Aygün Yildirim (90+2) equalized after Heidenheim’s 4:3 to make it 4:4 before Stefan Schimmer (90+4) became the match winner for the hosts.

In the 21st minute, Tim Kleindienst made up for the deficit after Prince Osei Owusu’s header (14th). Regensburg goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum missed the ball in a corner. In addition, Kleindienst (39th) made it 3-1 in the meantime, Adrian Beck (36th) had previously been successful from a distance.

Turbulent duel: KSC and FC St. Pauli go into the winter break 4-4

In a turbulent crisis duel, Karlsruher SC and FC St. Pauli missed the victory they had hoped for before the long winter break. After the start of the game was delayed due to pyrotechnics igniting, the two clubs drew 4: 4 (3: 3) on Saturday and failed to secure important points in the fight against relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. In front of 21,487 spectators, KSC took the lead 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3, but Hamburg never gave up.

Six goals were scored in a remarkable first half. After a weaker initial phase, Mikkel Kaufmann, surprisingly in the starting eleven, prepared the two goals by Fabian Schleusener (12th minute) and Marvin Wanitzek (16th). St. Pauli tried to put KSC under pressure from the start, but had to accept Schleusener’s 3-1 lead again (31st).

An open exchange of blows followed until the break, which was rewarded in the end with the equalization of the guests and also revealed the weaknesses of Baden in defense. Johannes Eggestein (24th/35th) was successful as a double goal scorer for the St. Paulians, his first goal only counted after a minute-long video evidence interruption and a millimeter decision after a suspicion of offside. Eric Smith also scored (43rd). Kaufmann’s goal was also not enough for Karlsruhe to finally celebrate success again after five league defeats in a row. Lukas Daschner (61st) made it 4:4 before the game calmed down.
