18-year-old keeper slips into the starting eleven after corona worries

Paris Saint-Germain will have to do without goalkeeper Keylor Navas until further notice due to a corona infection.

As the PSG announced, the goalkeeper from Costa Rica tested positive for the corona virus in the morning. He has gone into isolation and is following health protocol. In the evening’s game against Stade Brest, the only 18-year-old Lucas Lavallée from the U19 team should be between the posts.

The day before, coach Mauricio Pochettino had announced that superstar Lionel Messi would also be out of action against Brest because of his corona infection. The offensive player had contracted the Sars-Cov-2 virus at home in Argentina and had already missed his team’s first game after the winter break.

On Instagram, the 34-year-old explained that his recovery is taking a little longer. However, he has almost recovered and is very much looking forward to getting back on the pitch. According to the club, Messi ‘will gradually return to the squad next week’.

PSG had recently canceled a short training camp in Qatar and a test match in Saudi Arabia due to the corona situation in the team. Among others, Julian Draxler, striker Angel di Maria and European champion goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Italy were affected.
