New in the Grand Step Shoes range next winter are sneakers and slippers made from 100% recycled merino wool

The raw material for our recycled wool felt comes from Patagonia. The sheep there belong to the breed of Merino sheep, which are known for their particularly soft wool. Merino wool is significantly finer than the wool of other sheep breeds and does not scratch. It gives the recycling felt its particularly soft feel. The farms follow a controlled biological animal husbandry (KbT). All further work steps such as washing, dyeing and spinning of the wool are carried out according to one of the highest ecological and social standards.

The “Recycling Felt Project” was developed from the trimmings from the outerwear of our partner “disana”, since such an expensive material should of course not be thrown away, but returned to the textile cycle and then cut into individual fibers and then processed into a wool fleece. Another partner company uses it to make the felt by placing several layers criss-cross on top of each other until a thick fleece mat is in place. With the addition of water and heat, this is compacted by rubbing and pressing until a 3 mm thick, very dense, 100% pure wool felt is sanded, which is further processed at Grand Step into warm, cuddly soft shoes.
