Zwem4daagse is back at De Plons in Coevorden. Nearly a hundred participants receive a medal, certificate and goodie bag at the finish

Swimming and water polo club De Plons can look back on a successful Zwem4daagse. Swimmers could complete the four days from Monday to Friday in the Swaneburg swimming pool in Coevorden.

There were various activities around the Zwem4daagse, such as treasure diving, a shuffleboard and coloring competition and a water polo clinic. The final piece was a swimming disco on Friday evening. According to Gea Arends of De Plons, nearly a hundred swimmers took part. And De Plons is happy with that number, especially after two drastic corona years.

Arends noticed this week that there were many new participants. She says that the intention is to organize the Zwem4daagse again next year. De Plons saw many athletes drop out in corona time, but according to Arends, everything now seems positive again. “The number of members is increasing again and there is a new board that will actively focus on recruiting members in the coming years,” she says.

Connection and new impetus

Arends is a motivator who wants to create connection and new impetus within De Plons. “Of course together with the other board members and our loyal volunteers,” says the resident of the German Agterhorn-Laar. The new chairman of De Plons is Richard Roosken and Berry Wind is the new treasurer. Together with the trainers Harrie Hemme and Janneke Knegtering they form the new board. The position of secretary is officially still vacant.

Arends describes De Plons as an ‘association accessible to everyone, where swimming and water polo work together beautifully’.
