At the beginning of the match it didn’t look like it, but in the end Alexander Zverev was happy – and spoke about his problems.

Despite a bumpy start, Alexander Zverev was able to look forward to. The German tennis-ace reached the semi-finals at the Rasurnier in Halle. The world ranking list won 6: 4, 7: 6 (8: 6) in the quarter-finals against the Italian Flavio Cobolli.

However, the start was anything but ideal. Right from the start, Zverev had to take an unplanned break. After taking the first service game to his opponent, he left the Center Court of the OWL Arena at 1-0 and 40:40. He returned three minutes later – with visible stomach complaints. A few weeks ago in Hamburg, he had similar problems.

“Everything was fine in front of the match. Then suddenly I just didn’t feel good, I’m down from the pitch and handed over. I never had anything like that before,” said Zverev later. After that, however, it was a good game from him, he said.

Back on the pitch, Zverev took up his stomach several times, but could not get it out of it. After 47 minutes he got the first set. In the second set, both players kept their service games largely safe. Zverev could not use two break chances in 2-2 – so the decision had to be made in the tie -break. There he converted his second match ball after a total of 1:40 hours.

In the semi -finals, Zverev meets the Russians Daniil Medvedev on Saturday.
