The water polo players from Zaandam had a difficult time with the Greeks until half time. Still, the team went to rest with a narrow lead: 7-6. Lois den Ouden, Bente Rogge and Malissa van Rijn made the difference in this phase.
De Zaan still distanced itself from the visitors in the second half and eventually won 14-10. This was partly due to Silvanne Slot. Plebiscito Padova won 14-4 against competitor Lille, meaning De Zaan took over second place in the group stage. Lille is the next opponent in Europe in two weeks.
