Zorc: No discussions about coach Rose at BVB

Dortmund (dpa) – Borussia Dortmund’s sports director Michael Zorc is firmly committed to coach Marco Rose.

“We don’t have a coaching discussion,” the 59-year-old clarified in a Sky interview. Rose only moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Dortmund in the summer. The eight-time German champion and current Bundesliga runner-up wants to make amends on Sunday (3:30 p.m. / DAZN) at the European Cup competitor Union Berlin for the 5-2 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.

Despite being nine points behind defending champions FC Bayern, Zorc said that Borussia was “on the whole on the right track”. Rose wanted to “change certain things. That can’t be done in a very short time.” Regarding the title race, Zorc said: “You don’t have to be a great prophet to say that Bayern Munich will most likely be German champions again with this lead.” For a better perspective in the championship race, Dortmund has already signed national defender Niklas Süle from the champion of the last nine years.

After losing the DFB Cup as the defending champion, BVB now wants to focus on the Europa League, which has remained as a consolation after failing in the Champions League. “And we have to do everything we can to get as far as possible,” said Zorc, whose club will meet Scottish record champions Glasgow Rangers in the first leg of the second round on Thursday.
