Zirkzee: FC Bayern remains an option – no false hopes for Anderlecht

Belgium loan ends

Striker Joshua Zirkzee (21) made it clear in an interview in Belgium that a return to Bayern is just as much an issue as staying at Anderlecht or a completely new adventure. He was “curious” himself, he explained with a grin to “HLN“. Zirkzee emphasized that “everything will fall into place” after the two weeks with the junior national team and a vacation with his girlfriend. There was “not much contact” with FC Bayern regarding the future together, as he also asserted. “But I’m confident I can make a good move.”

Zirkzee said, “I know what I want,” and that’s playing. “I’d like that guarantee.” The fact that this isn’t necessarily the case in Munich recently prompted the southern Dutchman with Nigerian roots, who was born near Rotterdam, to cast doubt on a Bayern return. “I don’t think it makes much sense to return to Bayern after a season where I’ve played a lot,” Zirkzee said in March. At that time he had already scored 20 points in the Jupiler Pro League. Since then, including the playoffs, three more goals and four assists have been added.

Bayern loan Zirkzee: Combination good at Anderlecht – “Gain self-confidence”

Nevertheless, the attacker, who has played 17 times with the German record champions, assures that “remaining at FC Bayern is also an option”. “I just want to gain confidence and feel at home at a club and in the area. In any case, this combination was good for Anderlecht.” However, Zirkzee “does not want to raise any false hopes” among the fans of the Brussels club.

The RSC meanwhile should try to extend the loan from FC Bayern, where in turn an extension of the contract, which runs until 2023, would first be necessary. On the other hand, an attempt to buy Zirkzee from Munich was said to have been avoided early on.
