Just want to play
The fact that RSC Anderlecht would like to continue with Bayern loan Joshua Zirkzee was already in the media in Belgium at the beginning of February. No wonder. The Dutch forward is the second-best scorer and second-best scorer (15 goals, 9 assists) in the capital club’s team. Of course, his role as a dangerous regular makes the 20-year-old center forward question why he should now return to the big competition in Munich in the summer. Of all the players on loan that Bundesliga clubs have sent abroad, only Bayern goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (25) is currently making more appearances with Monaco than Zirkzee in Belgium.

*MLS starts the season at the end of February
Only used sparingly at Bayern, fixed size at Anderlecht – Zirkzee said to “nos.nl“: “I don’t think it makes much sense to return to Bayern after a season in which I play a lot.” After all, he “just wanted to play”, and the experience with the German record champions was an added bonus. After this season he will see where he can continue best, “and then I will also talk to Bayern.”
The attacker had already made it clear a few weeks ago that the club where he would still like to make his breakthrough is still playing in Munich. Zirkzee said in February that he wanted to be “an important player for Bayern”. In the state capital, however, the contract only runs until 2023. He said: His future club after Anderlecht “depends on the prospects of match practice, because that is the most important thing for me.” A further loan would first require a contract extension in Munich .
And Anderlecht? The Belgian first division club is currently refraining from the request for a permanent transfer in view of the supposedly high price of Zirkzees, as was recently reported. With his current market value of 8 million euros, the Dutch U21 international is already one of the four most valuable players in Anderlecht’s squad. The Belgians could possibly advertise with the Champions League for another loan. The RSC is currently struggling with KAA Gent and Royal Antwerpen for a place in the top four, who not only play for the championship in the playoffs, but also for a secure place in the “premier class” and one in the qualification.
